The prospect of dining out is such an exciting one, from the moment of finding the restaurant, even before booking, I love just looking at previous dishes, researching the ethos and the team and generally being rather nosy from a distance. In particular, viewing a sample menu tends to build the anticipation, giving an idea of what style to expect and choice of ingredients. However, if sensitive to certain foods, this can cause uneasiness regarding what will be on the menu on the night.
Whether the reason may be – from a past experience or just a natural allergy or intolerance, we completely understand there may be elements of a menu that could be daunting or unmanageable. This is an area of worry we are dedicated to removing! As a result of serving this set menu, we are very happy to accommodate any dietary requirements, adapting or creating the menu to eliminate any anxiety.
The beauty of our tasting menu is… that Nathan can showcase a large range of premium sustainable fish in a menu that is formed so that our guests can enjoy all nine courses. Our small yet mighty kitchen team are in early in the mornings to prepare all through the day for each evening that we have service. This ensures that the produce is extremely fresh, with most of our fish still swimming earlier that morning, and allows for care and precision to be taken in arranging every intricate element of the menu.
As a result of this prior planning, any dietaries we have are happily accommodated for when we know in advance, in order to give that guest the exact same level of planning, detail and quality through their menu. Whether vegetarian, pescetarian, wheat-, gluten-, lactose- or dairy free, intolerant to shellfish or just dislike a certain something, do just let us know in advance when making a booking. Our importance is placed on our guests enjoying their evening, having a worry-free time from the outshot knowing they are in knowledgeable hands with a bespoke menu created just for them to ensure happiness and healthiness!
For a fish restaurant, it is surprising how many guests we acquire who are not keen on or cannot eat certain fish. And we love them as part of the RNO family just the same! They are usually accompanying partners who adore it and are quite lovely to join them. For this occasion we do have our delicious vegetarian menu which is available if ordered when the booking is taken, as every element is again prepared for the evening for that specific guest. You only have to look out the window to view the idyllic conditions for growing produce, correctly signifying that Nathan’s vegetarian tasting menu is also a wonder to savour.
However, if there is an element you are unsure you will like, I find 99 percent of the time Nathan will convert you. If you are to try it from anybody’s kitchen, Nathan’s is the one, with many of our guests finishing a dish in a state of elation due to the discovery of a new unexpected flavour or fish cooked in a completely different way that exudes its beautiful natural flavour. My personal experience has shown me that mushrooms are no longer the enemy, and that pickled herring which used to conjure images of old vinegar-y heads in jars is actually delicious when handled here; appearing beautiful and tasting so delicate.
